Baldur's Gate 3 is almost here, and it's a big game! Here's what you need to know about the Baldur's Gate 3 download size and preload possibilities.
The release of Baldur's Gate 3 is around the corner, as the game releases August, 3 for PC and September, 6 for PlayStation 5. And knowing how much space you need on your SSD is the best preparation before you can dive into this massive RPG.
But how much of storage space do you need to download the game and the Day One patch and can you preload Baldur's Gate 3 ahead of the release? Here is everything you need to know!
Baldur's Gate 3: Download Size
According to the Steam page for Baldur's Gate 3, you need at least 150 GB of free storage space on your PC or Mac. But per a recent blog post from the devs, the specific download size should be exactly 122 GB.
Keep in mind this number might increase after the official release due to a Day One patch, but the devs haven't revealed its size yet.
Also, the PS5 version, which comes out over a month later, will be even bigger because it includes the Day One Patch and more from the start.
Baldur's Gate 3: Preload Availability
Downloading a game with more than 120 GB of file size will usually take a while, even if you have a very fast internet connection, so you might obviously be looking for a preload option.
Unfortunately and surprisingly as well, it seems like there will be no option to preload the game at all before its release. This information was shared as a community update on Steam, so you can be pretty sure that there will be no preload available until the game fully releases. What a shame!
