In an investor call, EA revealed some news on Battlefield 6: We got a release date window and some news on the scope of the game. Finally! Let's just jump right in:
EA said that Battlefield 6 will "take full advantage of the power of the next-generation platforms". Uhm... yeah, we would hope so. It'd be weird if the game doesn't take advantage of the next-gen consoles. Anyway, we like to hear it. Good corporate talk, EA.
Luckily, they revealed more:
What is the Battlefield 6 Release Date?
The game is on track for an early 2021 reveal and a holiday release between September-December 2021.
More specifically, EA CEO Andrew Wilson had this to say about the Battlefield 6 release date:
"We will reveal the game in the spring and deliver the defining Battlefield experience for our players in the 2021 holiday season."
What Game Modes Will Battlefield 6 Have?
EA didn't mention any game modes as of now, but we already know that Battlefield 6 will have a Battle Royale Mode. Outside of that we expect the usual Battlefield classics to make a return in this one as well. We'll update as soon as we know more than just the confirmed Battle Royale.

Battlefield 6 Will Be Bigger With More Players Than Ever
EA CEO Andrew Wilson said that Battlefield 6 will be bigger than ever:
"Battlefield 6 will have maps with unprecedented scale."
Obviously, having a more powerful system will make that possible. But what does more players than ever before mean? 125? 200? 1000? Over 9000!? We don't know, but we do know this:
"The next version of Battlefield takes all the destruction, player agency, and vehicle and weapon combat that the franchise is known for and elevates it to another level."
What's the Setting for Battlefield 6?
Apparently, Battlefield 6 will be set back in modern times. No more historic setting with controversial historical inaccuracies. That obviously didn't go so well for them last time. Turns out, people take issue with female soldiers in World War 1, but we don't wanna open that Pandora's Box again...
As you can tell, EA CEO Wilson was quite chatty in the call and, yes, he had something to say on this as well:
"[Battlefield 6] will mark a return to all-out military warfare."
Does that confirm the modern setting? No, but it sounds cool. Anyway, we're basing our assumption on a modern setting based on the fact that there are numerous reports claiming that Battlefield 6's key features are inspired by Battlefield 3 and 4. Now if you apply some quick math here, you'll see that Battlefield 3 was set in modern times. Hence, Battlefield 6... you get the point, right? So... Battlefield 6 = Bad Company 3, confirmed? You're thinking it, not us.

What Platforms Will Battlefield 6 Be Released On?
PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC are a safe bet. It seems unlikely that the game will be released for PS4 and Xbox One since it's meant to be bigger than ever and take full advantage of next-gen hardware. We don't see the old gen systems being able to keep up here.
