Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is set a few years after the events of Breath of the Wild. Hyrule as we know it has changed drastically as sky islands have now risen up into the heavens, giving the open world map a new, more vertical, dimension.
In Tears of the Kingdom the malevolent forces of darkness loom over the kingdom of Hyrule, Ganondorf has returned.
