Bethesda Know They Really Messed Up With Starfield: "All I Can Say Is, I Apologize"

Starfield is an Xbox exclusive. You know that. We reported on that. Everybody reported on it. The game will also launch on Game Pass and Starfield will never come to the PS5. Now, Bethesda apologize.

Was Microsoft's purchase a hostile takeover? Were all those co-hosted conferences a fraud? Is the real Todd Howard kidnapped somewhere? Does Phil Spencer have dirt on him? We don't know, but we sure are confused by how deeply sorry Bethesda are about Starfield being an Xbox exclusive.

Bethesda Apologize for Starfield Not Coming to PS5

What else is there to say other than to show you exactly what Bethesda marketing boss Pete Hines had to say on this? Here you go:

If you're a big fan of stuff we make and a game that we're making is no longer available on your platform I totally understand if you are unhappy or pissed. I get it, those are all real feelings and frustrations. I don’t know how to allay the fears and concerns of PlayStation 5 fans other than to say, 'Well, I’m a PlayStation 5 player as well.' And I’ve played games on that console, and there’s games I’m gonna continue to play on it. But if you want to play Starfield? PC and Xbox. Sorry, All I can really say is, 'I apologize,' because I'm certain that's frustrating to folks, but there's not a whole lot I can do about it.

Bro... am I the only one that's kinda moved here? I mean, that legit feels genuine. Like legit, legit. Mind you, I do have Game Pass and I refuse to buy a PS5 for $500 when Game Pass offers gaming's greatest deal. In fact, I'm annoying the whole office with that and souring their hardware love. So I'm cool, I'll be playing Starfield, but still... man that's a heartfelt apology by Bethesda.

How You Can Still Play Starfield Without an Xbox

Just buy Game Pass. Seriously. It's $15 a month, and it will probably get many discount months or trials with time. Legit, buying Game Pass for three months will cost you less than Starfield, and you'll easily finish the game. Beyond that, a Game Pass subscription is a genuine great deal, and it gets even better with a simple trick: If you buy Xbox Live Gold ($60 per year), you can upgrade to Game Pass for the entire duration for just $1. This is doable for up to three years, so you can get three years of Game Pass for just $180 ($5 a month) by using this method.

If you're as frustrated over this Starfield exclusivity as Pete Hines fears in his apology, then the game should be worth at least entertaining this idea. Faithful and blind console-following and loyalty is... outdated.

Truth.
