BioWare has officially canceled Anthem 2.0 last night. Here is why everybody could care less about it.
Anthem might have just been the worst BioWare move ever. A company focused on RPGs with a love for storytelling that got so influenced by EA and their hunger for money, that they had to make Anthem – a game that was supposed to reel in the big bucks for EA.
But guess what happened? Nothing. Because nobody played it.
Why Was Anthem so Bad?
Anthem had its flaws within the game, but it wasn’t just that that put people off. It was the fact that it was made by BioWare, who are usually not making games like this at all. It was the fact that BioWare messed up Mass Effect: Andromeda, a game with so much potential and excitement beforehand, just to push out Anthem… and then Anthem wasn’t even good. It was the fact that it seemed like there was a lack of transparency and yet they still wanted more cash, despite fans not getting anything in return.

They lost a lot of fans throughout the last years and this game didn’t make it any better, unfortunately. It made everything worse.
And so they've come forward with a statement yesterday.
In the spirit of transparency and closure we wanted to share that we’ve made the difficult decision to stop our new development work on Anthem (aka Anthem NEXT). We will, however, continue to keep the Anthem live service running as it exists today.
And as you might have been able to imagine, reactions were very much headed in one direction.
Comments under this post show what fans of BioWare truly value, that being their RPGs, while at the same time, them being angry for having wasted time on a game like Anthem that was doomed from the start.
Game development is hard. Decisions like these are not easy. Moving forward, we need to laser focus our efforts as a studio and strengthen the next Dragon Age, and Mass Effect titles while continuing to provide quality updates to Star Wars: The Old Republic.
Well, at least that sounds promising... right?

How Can BioWare Be Better?
The idea that the next Mass Effect - not the remake, the next new game - will get more love and attention now that Anthem is gone and that they will not pull a Mass Effect: Andromeda again sounds like music to fans' ears. Yet people are also skeptical after the last debacle.
The idea that Dragon Age 4 might just be the biggest Dragon Age so far, simply because now BioWare can put all their resources into making it the biggest and best game, made people happy, while at the same time, nervous.
The company will have to do a lot of good these next years to prove that they are still the gaming company that people first fell in love with. So let's hope this won't be a CD Projekt Red 2.0.
