The original Blossom Tales released in 2017, and it was a beautiful Zelda homage. Now, the game is getting a sequel, and every Zelda fan should be excited.

The original Blossom Tales was a really good game and a straight-up The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past homage. The sequel follows down the same path, and, by all means, that's exactly what we wanted from it.

What Is Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince

If you're not familiar with the original, then expect this: Retro art, dungeon crawling, puzzle solving, a beautiful retro soundtrack – all set in a gorgeous 2D world. Seriously, it's a good time to be a retro Zelda fan, because Eastward just treated us to some gaming-glory last week.

In Blossom Tales, you control the warrior Lily, while the whole story really is a grandfather telling a tale to his grand-children. Thus, you and the world around you are all subject to the grandfather's whim. It's all as fantastical and cute as it sounds, and, really, the best way to get an idea of what you're getting is to watch some gameplay:

Blossom Tales 2: The Minotaur Prince Release Date

If reading and watching all this, got you all hot and bothered, then here come the bad news: The game is not due to release before 2022. I know... damn, those 2022 releases. What's even worse is that it's merely scheduled for '2022' – that's a huge possible release window, so fingers crossed that it's coming sooner than later.

When it does release, though, the game will be available on PC and the Nintendo Switch.
