Breaking Bad Creator Wants GTA-Like Adaption

Vince Gilligan, the mastermind behind Breaking Bad, suggested Rockstar should adapt the TV series as a GTA-Like game. Here's what happened.

So... I'm wondering why I never thought about this until now that I've heard it: A Breaking Bad game in the style of GTA would make a lot of sense. Also, it would probably make a lot of money, and that's likely what Vince Gilligan was thinking when he pitched the idea to Rockstar Games.

A Breaking Bad Game in the Style of GTA?

The creators mention that they tried to make a Breaking Bad game adaption happen on many occasions, and one of said occasions was pitching the idea of a Breaking Bad game in the style of GTA to Rockstar. The idea was rejected - likely because Rockstar is too busy with their other games - but Gilligan mentions he still thinks a Breaking Bad game would make "a lot of sense":

I'm not much of a video game player, but how can you not know Grand Theft Auto. I remember saying to the guys, that are off running Apple now, who said yes originally to Breaking Bad, 'Who owns Grand Theft Auto? Can't you have a module, can there be a Breaking Bad [game]?' [It] still makes sense to me! That never came to fruition. There have been quite a few attempts at video games, some of them kind of made it to market. We tried to do a VR experience with the Sony PlayStation VR headset. We did a mobile game that lasted for a little while.

Yeah, anybody that calls GTA 'Grand Theft Auto' twice in three sentences has no clue about video games. Still, we're with Gilligan that this would make a lot of sense, though I'm very worried about the seemingly Plan-B Breaking Bad VR game... that sounds like an auto-flop.

For not being into video games, Gilligan sure seems to have a soft spot for them, since he also mentions he wrote three or four video games, that simply never came to be. With that much dedication, it seems like a Breaking Bade game adaption is only a matter of time. If you want to watch the whole interview, you can do so here (time stamp for GTA is 50:50) :
