Blizzard announced that they will officially shut down Overwatch. Details below.
Overwatch released in 2016, so... it's only been 6 years. How crazy is that? Doesn't it feel like Overwatch has been around forever? I feel like Overwatch was a part of my childhood, though by most standards, I officially became an adult in 2008, so... my memory is obviously not to be trusted here. Still, after 6 loooong years, Overwatch is now ready to pack things up. Overwatch is dead. Long live Overwatch 2.
Overwatch Will Shut Down Servers
If you're reading these news now, then brace yourself, because the Overwatch servers are going to be shut down on October 3. Of course, that timing is entirely logical, since Overwatch 2 will be released on October 4. Yes, that does mean that the hardcores will have to endure one day without Overwatch.
No need to worry, though: Overwatch 2 is free to play, and it will pick up exactly where Overwatch is going to leave things. Plus, if you bought Overwatch, you will start Overwatch 2 journey with free goodies, and all your skins will carry over into the new game. Essentially, you're getting Overwatch 2.0, hence the name... Overwatch 2. It'll be interesting to see if the long-awaited sequel can restore the game to its former glory, or if the rising team-shooter star will continue to fade...
