Disco Elysium took the gaming world by storm and by surprise after it was released. Now it seems we might have a worthy successor.
Citizen Sleeper. I bet you were sleeping on that game... citizen (sorry, I had to). Seriously though, Citizen Sleeper is the kind of game that is so unique, it can only flop or become a roaring success. Luckily though, we've seen this exact brand of uniqueness before in Disco Elysium (I know that that's a semi-contradiction), so it's a bit easier to judge this one and to safely assume that this could be a serious hit. Good thing we're here to tell you all about it.
What Is Citizen Sleeper?
Well, for one, Citizen Sleeper will be available on Xbox, PC, and the Nintendo Switch only. Game Pass subscribers rejoice - you're getting the game too - and you can essentially get Game Pass for free with our trick. For another, Citizen Sleeper occupies a very rare brand of genres: It is a mash-up of a board game and an RPG, with a lot of text, a lot of choice, and just a lot of ways the story can unfold. If you played Disco Elysium, you know exactly what to expect.
The story is the core of this game, and it revolves around a slave cyborg, waking up from the control of his master. As the cyborg, you start to question everything around you, and look for your place in the world.
Citizen Sleeper is one of those games that's hard to describe and even harder to get into, but much like Disco Elysium, it is as unique as it gets. The game releases on May 5 and should be on every thinking gamer's radar.
