The popular retro-inspired, run and gun, 2D video game Cuphead is getting a show of its own with The Cuphead Show on Netflix! It was only a matter of time!
Let's be honest here, if there's one game that was sure to get an animated show, it's Cuphead. The popular video game was quite literally inspired by old black and white cartoons. Cupheadcame out all the way back in 2017, and in a few months, the game will be celebrating its fourth anniversary. The retro 2D shooter won the hearts of many fans with its unique hand-drawn design, style, and mechanics. There's no other 2D game like Cuphead, or at least, not one we've heard of. Now, Cuphead is getting its own animated show with The Cuphead Show on Netflix.

It came as no surprise that exactly Cupheadwill be getting a brand-new animated show on Netflix. Not much is known about the show yet, except that it'll be animated, and it'll have 10 episodes. Naturally, The Cuphead Show on Netflix will keep the same art style as the game – unsurprising, since the animation style is perfectly suited for TV. The Cuphead Show already got its first trailer a few days back and in it, we saw one of the bosses in the game make an appearance.

King Dice isn't the only confirmed character for the upcoming show. Many of the heroes from the game will probably be seen in the show. Cuphead, Mugman, and King Dice are guaranteed at this point. Some of the others that might get screen time include:
- The Devil
- Ms. Chalice
- Elder Kettle
- Ribby and Croaks
- Porkrind
- Cuppet
The names of the first five episodes were also leaked:
- Ep. 1 - CarnEvil
- Ep. 2 - Bringing Up Baby Bottle
- Ep. 3 - Ribby and Croaks
- Ep. 4 - Dangerous Mugman
- Ep. 5 - Sweet Temptation
By the looks of it, we'll be seeing plenty of locations and characters from the Cuphead game. Let's hope Netflix does it justice!
The Netflix Cuphead Show Release Date
The show was originally planned for release in 2020, alas it got delayed due to the pandemic. An official release date is still unclear, but The Cuphead Show is set to come out in 2021, so stay tuned for further updates!
