CD Projekt RED has been hit with another massive blow after the poorly received and over-hyped Cyberpunk 2077 failed to deliver. The company has been fully jacked, hacked, and ransomed by a hacker.
CD Projekt RED got massively hacked yesterday and the company took to Twitter to inform the world of the attack. Everything from accounting data to source code has been stolen according to the hacker who even left a ransom note!

CD Projekt RED does not negotiate with cyber-terrorists! I feel like I am watching an old 90’s action movie except it’s not the CEO’s kid being ransomed but my credit card number instead. The ransom note is pretty epic! “You have 48 hours” or we are going to dump your company on the internet, bro. Here is the ransom note in all its glory.
The hacker plans to take down this “shitty” company, as he calls CDPR, or at least expose them for their bad business practices. We guess that this hacker must have pre-ordered the collector’s edition of Cyberpunk 2077, and, in hindsight, we all know how stupid of a decision that must have been.
CD Projekt RED will turn to the long arm of the law to handle this problem according to their tweet. CD Projekt RED claims that no personal player data was accessed by the hacker. And indeed, it does seem the hacker is targeting the company and not the customers of CD Projekt RED.
But wait there's more! CD Projekt RED was also hacked in 2017.

Apparently, the company did not learn its lesson in 2017 as it was once again hacked. The info that was hacked in 2017 was “old” and therefore not important, so why learn.
At this point, you perhaps start to feel bad for the once-revered now mocked CD Projekt RED team. And you should, because despite them lying to everyone about Cyberpunk 2077, hacking is a crime and no motives or frustrations with the company can justify such actions. We hope that this second and more serious attack will force CDPR to up its data security game.
