References to multiple upcoming Metal Gear Solid remasters have been found within the games files of the MGS Master Collection Vol. 1 launcher. It seems like MGS4, MGS5 and MGS Peace Walker will be remastered and bundled together to make up the second volume of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection.
The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1 is a bundle that contains remastered ports of older MGS titles, including: Metal Gear, Metal Gear 2, Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2, and Metal Gear Solid 3. It was released on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, and yet we already have leaks for you concerning a sequel.
One dataminer has been into the files of the recently-released Master Collection, and they have found compelling evidence to suggest a second volume is on the way. The Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2 will include remasters of Metal Gear Solid 4, Metal Gear Solid 5 and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, according to their research.
Dataminer Finds Evidence Of Even More Remasters In MGS Master Collection Vol. 2
A dataminer was "digging through the scripts" of the Metal Gear Solid 2 launcher within the Master Collection Vol. 1 when they found multiple strings related to upcoming remasters for MGS4, MGS5 and MGS Peace Walker. The dataminer uploaded their findings to Reddit, and they were even generous enough to provide screenshots of the strings that mention the games in question. Konami have yet to comment.
To avoid any confusion for those who aren't familiar with Peace Walker, this game actually came out between Metal Gear Solid 4 and 5, so it does make sense that it would feature in a Master Collection Vol. 2.
What Metal Gear Solid is your favorite out of 4, 5 and Peace Walker? Surely MGS4 is the best of that bunch?
Can You Trust This Leak?
We think you can confidently trust this leak for a number of reasons. Most importantly, this is exactly what everyone expected Konami to do (they specifically titled the first Master Collection "Vol. 1" after all). And secondly, the dataminer in question is a Reddit-user that doesn't seem to be using these discoveries to bolster their own reputation in any way, so we don't think this is someone looking for attention.
The only real surprise with this leak is that they are choosing to include Metal Gear Solid 5 in the collection. MGS5 is less than ten years old and widely available, but hey, we aren't complaining.
