Shrines: you couldn't get around them in Breath of the Wild, so now fans are wondering if they will return in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Some fans hated them, some hoped for their return in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom – Shrines. The small dungeons, featuring more or less tricky puzzles that required Link to combine his skills to get the reward at the end, were a central element in Zelda: Breath of the Wild. They were necessary to improve Link's stamina and gain more heart pieces, and the Great Plateau Shrines also provided Runes.
Shrines in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
It seems very likely that Link will have to solve puzzles and riddles again to improve his stamina and health and learn new abilities. Just getting them would be boring anyway, wouldn't it? Pre-release, Nintendo hasn't confirmed or denied anything concerning shrines.
But yes: Tears of the Kingdom has Shrines. And it has even more than Breath of the Wild. Where the first game had 120 shrines, Tears of the Kingdom now has a whopping 150.
Next to the classic shrines in Hyrule, Tears of the Kingdom also features sky islands, which include new types of shrines. You will once again earn Lights of Blessing, with which you can increase your health and stamina.
