New Pokémon-Like Game Revealed

DokeV premiered at the Gamescom 2021 yesterday, and many are calling it a Pokémon-like game. But is it really?

Let me give you a bit of backstory here. I absolutely love Pearl Abyss, and I am desperately waiting for their RPG Crimson Desert. But when Pearl Abyss was shown at the Gamescom last night and then the trailer for DokeV started playing, I was just so confused. Like, how did that company – who also made Black Desert, by the way – make DokeV? This is like if Gamefreaks, you know, daddy of Pokémon, were to suddenly work on Call of Duty.

But I'm getting ahead of myself. If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, and you don’t know what I’m talking about, here it is:

You see what I mean when I say Pokémon-like game, right? Not just the graphic style (though the overall graphics are ten times better than Arceus already), but the battle system, that reminds us a lot of Pokémon battles. Oh, and by the way, the world is really similar too. It has humans who co-exist with Dokebi. Dokebi being Pokémon-like creatures. Again... you get my point.

Not a lot is known about DokeV yet, but Twitter went absolutely wild over the game announcement yesterday. Seriously, it got to a point where I actually wondered: yes, it's cute, but why are you simping so much about it? Are you really so Pokémon-starved that you now need a replacement?

I still can't explain it, but here, see for yourself, I'm really not making this up.

When Is The DokeV Release Date?

DokeV does not have a release date yet, but once it gets one, we will update this article and will let you know... if the hype hasn't down till then. After all, Pokémon Legends: Arceus should be released by then, so maybe people will switch over again.

For now, we'll just sit back and enjoy the hype that DokeV gets. Because don't misunderstand, we're extremely happy for Pearl Abyss. The Korean company deserves all the love they can get, especially with Crimson Desert – hopefully – releasing soon and getting the same hype.

Make sure you stick around on EarlyGame's gaming section for more news on DokeV in the future.
