Well-known streamer Dr Disrespect has once again spoken out on Twitter about the state of the gaming scene and industry. He calls for new content and points out the responsibility of the industry. Find out what he said and what reactions followed!
Internet personality Dr Disrespect has spoken out about the state of gaming, with a particular focus on the lack of games that are suited for streamers. There aren't many releases announced for 2021 yet, so he might have a valid point... right?
Let's take a look at the original tweet from Dr Disrespect, in which he describes the state of the gaming industry as a "nightmare". "There are no new games," says the good doctor, "no new game that is meant or perfect for streaming." Is he really right?
Just woke up from a nightmare. Then I realized it wasn't a nightmare, it's actually real.Where are the new games at? Where's the next BR, the next big FPS, the game built for streaming? 120 billion dollar industry.

It's true that there aren't many "big" titles announced for 2021 yet, but does the statement above really make sense? Developing games takes a lot of time and money - especially for the games that are supposed to be big hits and will be fed with new content for a long time. In the current pandemic, game development has become even more difficult. This has certainly affected the development of Halo: Infinite – a game that is used as an example in some comments under Dr Disrespect's tweet, such as by NickMercs.
Halo: Infinite was supposed to go live last year with the release of the Xbox Series X|S, but was delayed for a year. Many gamers have hopes that the next Halo title will be a multiplayer hit, especially since it's rumored to have a battle royale mode. Developing games is just complicated and costly and since more and more games are released in an unfinished state (*cough* Cyberpunk 2077 *cough*), it's probably better to wait it out for quality's sake.
While we're on the subject of time, there's one thing to keep in mind - most of the top streamer games aren't that old! Call of Duty: Warzone is less than a year old and Apex Legends is less than two years old! Plus, these games are constantly being updated with new, often free, content. Then there's old gems like Among Us, a game that was released in 2018 but didn't rise in popularity until 2020.
