From Software and Bandai Namco officially announced the sales numbers for Elden Ring after less than three weeks – and they are insane.
The hype was massive, but even most hardcore fans didn't expect for Elden Ring to set the world on fire the way it did. We already knew that the game was a huge success, as player numbers have been extremely high on Steam and other platforms. We also got some first sales estimates that projected a big success for the game. However, we didn't get an official confirmation yet – until now. Bandai Namco and From Software have revealed the official sales numbers and confirmed that Elden Ring is already incredibly successful.
Elden Ring Sold Over 12 Million Copies, More Than Dark Souls 3 Ever Did
From Software posted a press release confirming that Elden Ring already sold over 12 million copies worldwide, less than three weeks after release. That is just ridiculous. To put that in perspective: It is the most successful game release since Call of Duty: Vanguard and already sold more often than Dark Souls 3 ever did in its lifetime (the last officially reported number was 10 million sales four years after release). An astonishing success story and a well deserved success for one of the greatest games we ever played.
ELDEN RING has sold an astonishing 12 million copies worldwide in the first two weeks. That translates into at least 720M dollars in revenue.Congratulations to the teams at From and Bandai Namco! pic.twitter.com/p85pvripdS

Along the press release we also got a statement of the man, the myth, the legend: Hidetaka Miyazaki, CEO of From Software and Director/Co-Creator of Dark Souls and Elden Ring. Here is what he had to say on the success of his latest masterpiece:
It's astonishing to see just how many people have been playing Elden Ring. I'd like to extend our heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire development team. We hope players enjoy a high level of freedom when adventuring through its vast world, exploring its many secrets and facing up to its many threats. Thank you for your continued support.
Elden Ring is amazing, and it's good to see that it resonates so well with the gaming world at large. Remember when Dark Souls was a weird, niche game that slowly conquered the internet? Nevermind that, remember the original Demon's Souls? My boy has grown up and it's just absolutely wonderful to see.
