Elon Musk Did It: Monkeys Playing Video Games Using Their Minds!

Elon Musks's Neuralink has succesfully managed to allow monkeys to play video games with their minds! This sounds so unbelievable, we're almost tempted no not believe it! So Planet of the Apes was just a vision of the future after all?

AI takeover? Virus wipe out?

Nah...

Monkey are about to take over the planet and we have Elon Musk to thank for it. The absolute mad man has actually had first successes in making monkey play video games with their minds. How? Neuralink – a computer chip implemented into your skull and wired to your brain.

So let's unravel this into simple sizeable steps:

  • Neuralink is Elon Musk's start-up (as much as you can call something with Elon Musk backing a start-up)

  • Neuralink is working on a computer chip that goes into your skull and wires to your brain

  • Neuralink has been successfully implemented in monkeys, who are playing video games with their minds

I know what you're thinking now: Why the F do I still have to use a controller, mouse or keyboard? Get a scalpel, gimme that chip!

For all animal lovers: The monkeys are happy and well. According to Elon, you can't even see where the chip was implemented. Then again, the guy has a kid named X Æ A-12, so what does he really know about happiness...

Anyway, the reveal of the gaming monkey breakthrough came via a Clubhouse interview. You'll wanna skip to minute 25 for the Neuralink part:

"We've already got a monkey with a wireless implant in their skull, and the tiny wires, who can play video games using his mind."

Dope. Dope af.

Of course the main purpose of Neuralink is not to let monkey play video games with their minds. No. It's to let us play video games with our minds.

No, actually Elon wants to make human-machine communication – and merging – possible. He claims that our smartphones have already essentially made us cyborgs. With Neuralink, he just wants to make it official and make the communication between us and technology faster.

“With a direct neural interface, we can improve the bandwidth between your cortex and your digital tertiary layer by many orders of magnitude. I’d say probably at least 1,000, or maybe 10,000, or more.”

So what does this mean when its truly realized and applied? It would mean that we can send thoughts and memories via telepathy and the sum of our memories and experiences could even be saved after we die and implemented into another human or robot.

For now though, the first appliance will be for quadriplegics to control any device just by thinking.

After that, next up: Gamers.
