The year 2023 was an extremely successful one for the Gatcha genre. We had some amazing new releases like Honkai Star Rail, Nikke and Path of Nowhere. Now listen up gatcha addicts: What if I told you that 2024 could be even more exciting? Let's take a look at some of the most promising looking new gatcha games in 2024!
Due to the ever-increasing popularity of mobile games in general, the gatcha genre has had a very successful year. And nowadays, gatcha games are much more than just money-burning machines. In addition to lovingly designed characters, they usually offer an exciting story as well!
If you don't have enough gatcha in your life already, things will get even more interesting next year! However, with so many upcoming releases, it can be difficult to decide which games are worth testing and investing your time into. The following five gatcha games are the ones we're most excited about in 2024!
Let's dive straight into it!
Top 5 Gatcha Games In 2024
With so many new releases, deciding on what to put on this list was anything but easy for us! In particular, we've paid close attention to the characters, the gameplay, and the world design! Opinions are certainly different in this regard, however, we already have some great candidates that we think could appeal to all gatcha gamers.
#1 Arknights: Endfield
We are starting off this list super strong with Arknights: Endfield! Arknights: Endfield is an upcoming spin-off video game of the previous “Arknights”.
It is set to be released worldwide in 2024 on PC and Android / iOS.
The game looks so stunning!
Arknights: Endfield will be developed and published by Hypergryph and is supposedly an open world anime RPG in a post apocalyptic surrounding just as its predecessor. Endfield inherits the worldview of Arknights, but with its own setting, storyline, and characters.
Speaking of characters: Arknights Endfield already has a bunch of gorgeous looking 3D character models, which can be seen only in the few existing trailers. Gameplay wise, there isn’t too much information as of right now, and we will have to wait for actual in-game footage.
#2 Girls Frontline 2
Next up, we have the one of the most anticipated gatcha games of 2024: Girls Frontline 2!
The game itself was announced back in 2018 during the second anniversary event of Girls Frontline. The fourth beta test and first open beta, named “Gravitation Test”, took place just recently and ended on September 23, 2023.
That's a cool setting?!
And why is it so hyped, you may ask? — Well, who doesn’t love high quality 3D character models combined with action packed tactical two-dimensional shooter gameplay?
The very obvious highlight of the game is the design of the characters themselves! They are created with so much attention to detail and really make you want to try out the game, which you should definitely do after it is finally released!
#3 Phantom Blade: Executioners
To be quite honest, this game actually doesn’t belong on the 2024 list, since the release date has been moved forward to November, 2, 2023.
However, I still want to bring the game to your attention since I bet you will love the art style of Phantom Blade: Executioners!
Have you ever seen a game like this?
Believe it or not, but the game is absolutely unique! Among all the super high polished 3D anime games, Phantom Blade: Executioner is really something different regarding its overall looks! Especially the combat animations have left me amazed! If that sounds interesting to you, there are multiple high quality trailers and character showcases up on their official YouTube channel as of right now.
I really can't wait to finally try out this upcoming gatcha gem and so should you!
#4 Project Mugen
There we have it, the next, so called, Genshin Impact killer!
After Tower of Fantasy failed to knock Genshin off the throne, many players are convinced that Project Mugen will.
Could this be the new Genshin-Killer?
And let me tell you: They might be right. This game by Naked Rain looks absolutely amazing and has a huge open world for you to explore. The characters seem super playful and the entire game has more of an anime style, similar to that of Genshin Impact.
Project Mugen will be available for PC and PlayStation in 2024!
#5 Project NB
Speaking of Genshin Impact: Project NB doesn’t even try to hide its similarities to HoYoverse's biggest hit from 2020.
This new open world RPG from BlackStorm really seems to be a Genshin lookalike, however it's turn-based!
Genshin Impact x Honkai Star Rail?
Graphic wise, the game itself looks absolutely gorgeous, and it seems like Project NB puts a big emphasis on exploration. So if you love seeking out treasures and hidden chests, this game could be right up your alley! Unfortunately, there is no hint on the exact release date as of right now!
And that's it for now! As I said in the introduction, all these games are clear recommendations, and it's up to each player to decide which one they like best and feel like investing time in. Personally, a must-tryout for me is definitely Phantom Blade: Executioners & Project Mugen!
