Far Cry 7 hasn't been officially confirmed yet, but a new leak already gives us a good idea of what we can possibly look forward to and when we can expect the game to release.
Our colleagues over at Insider Gaming had a chat with some unnamed sources of theirs and found out some new stuff about the next game upcoming Ubisoft game called Project Blackbird, or better known as Far Cry 7.
Apart from the technical side of whether the game will still use the Dunia engine, they also found out when the game will be released and the general direction of the story.
Let's dive into all leaked information!
Far Cry 7: New Engine & A Non-Linear Story
The game will be developed by Ubisoft Montreal, a seasoned team of veteran Far Cry devs, who also worked on Assassin's Creed Valhalla , Rainbow Six Siege and more Ubisoft titles. They'll move away from the Dunia engine and work from now on with the Snowdrop engine.
In terms of the story, the game revolves around a wealthy person, who's trying to rescue the kidnapped family from a group called "Sons of Truth". Since the game is still in the early stages of development, the specific story details might change later on.
Potential Far Cry 7 Release Window Revealed
During the campaign, you have 72 in-game hours (equivalent to 24 real-life hours) to rescue your family members. But the timer can be paused when you enter one of your safehouses.
You can choose the order in which you rescue your family members, but keep in mind that some of them might die, which will have a big impact on the story. Ultimately, you'll have multiple ways of finding out of the location where your family member are held captive.
With a new interrogation mechanic, you can get the information you need from the enemy. But this doesn't mean they will always tell you the truth or tell you something to begin with. It all depends on your actions.
According to the source, the release is set for Fall 2025, but Ubisoft hasn't confirmed it officially yet.

For now, we just have to wait patiently. With all the new big games coming out in the next few weeks and months, this shouldn't be a problem, right? Especially with the looming release of Assassin's Creed Mirage around the corner !
