A new open-world action-RPG was recently announced, and it looks stunning. Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will release sooner than expected and should come as a great surprise for all Game Pass owners.
Do you remember the game Ashen? No? It came out in 2018 and was basically an indie version of an open-world soulslike. Even though it was not as huge as anything offered by From Software titles, it was very well received by the community and a really decent game overall. Recently, Kepler Interactive and A44, the developers of the aforementioned Ashen, announced their next big project: Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn.
But before we start looking at the game in more detail, here is the official announcement trailer:
What Is Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn?
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is an open-world action-RPG which will combine guns and magic. You will also be accompanied by an AI-controlled pet, that looks a bit like a magic fox and will be a big help in battling your enemies. A44 describes the story as follows:
The door to the Afterlife has been opened, allowing the old god’s army of the undead to escape from within. Join Nor Vanek, a member of the coalition army, and her mystical companion Enki, a strange creature gifted with magical powers, as they pursue their personal vendetta against the gods.
So basically you are the last hope of humanity, fighting off undead hordes. It reminds us a bit of Dark Souls, where we also have to fight against undead enemies. If the combat will be as challenging isn't known yet, but A44 have developed Ashen, and that was a really hard game which also made use of the soulslike concept of collecting resources, that will be dropped when you die and lost if you die again before retrieving them. So yes, we do expect certain soulslike elements, maybe mixed with the open-world-action of an Assassins's Creed...
When Is The Flintlock Release Date?
Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will release later this year. There is no exact date yet, but it will release 2022 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4/PS5 and PC. For PC, the game will be available on both Steam and Epic Games Store. Apart from that, it was also announced that Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn will launch straight into Xbox Game Pass as well. So if you don't have Game Pass yet, make sure you get it straight away.
Are you hyped for Flintlock? Have you even heard of that game before? If it is anything like Ashen we can guarantee it will be a fun game to play.
