Holy guacamole, it's time to take a look at a real success story. The Forgotten City is an insanely successful and interesting Skyrim mod, and has even won some awards! It is so successful that it's now getting its own standalone game, and it looks absolutely fantastic. We even have a release date window!

What is Skyrim's The Forgotten City Mod?
The Forgotten City is an insane Skyrim mod that turns the game into a crazy murder mystery. It's amazing, and works insanely well. You're a detective, and you have to figure out what (or who) killed everyone in the "Forgotten City". Yes, these sentences are short, but the whole thing is just so awesome that I have to be careful about my wording.
The original mod was set in an underground city, and you had to explore and engage in dialogue with different NPCs to figure out what the hell happened. Skyrim's The Forgotten City Mod was pretty insanely detailed, and ended up winning an Australian writer's guild award in 2016. It also won Mod of the Year from ModDB and a Skyrim Nexus's File of the Month award (both in 2015). Oh, and it was downloaded more than 3 million times. I told you: it's pretty nuts, and you should check it out!
What Will The Forgotten City Standalone Game Be?
The Forgotten City standalone game will be a mystery set in an ancient Roman city. Oh, and you're a time traveler. Basically, the city was cursed with something called 'The Golden Rule', and if anyone sins in the city, then everyone turns into a golden statue. You have travelled 2000 years back in time, and when you find the golden statues, you know that you need to figure out who it was that sinned.
The concept for this new The Forgotten City standalone game takes a lot from the fantastic Skyrim mod it was based on, but is also an incredibly original and interesting idea for a game. You have to find out who committed a sin, and thus, who caused everyone in this Roman City to turn to gold. It will consist of a lot of investigating and engaging in interesting dialogue choices. This game looks wild, and we can't wait to get our hands on it!
Here's the trailer, holy cow in a bucket is this exciting!
What is The Forgotten City Release Date?
The Forgotten City will release as a standalone game some time during Summer of 2021. We assume that this means summer in the Northern Hemisphere (because, you know, America), so that's pretty bloody soon! It will be out on the PlayStation 5 and 4, Xbox Series X|S and One, as well as PC and Nintendo Switch. This is going to be nuts. Stay tuned, and stay ready. Prepare your body for this one. It's going to rock your sad, cold world.
