Nintendo Switch Online is getting a huge boost: It's been confirmed that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games will be added to the service.
If you're a retro fan, you probably already exhausted the assortment of NES and SNES games that are available with Nintendo Switch Online. Luckily, what started as a rumor on the Nate the Hate podcast has now been confirmed by Nintendo Life and Eurogamer:
Game Boy & Game Boy Color Games Will Come to Nintendo Switch Online
While we can be certain that this will happen, we're less certain about the specific date. It is suggested though that the Game Boy and Game Boy Color games will be released on Nintendo Switch Online as soon as September 2021. Yup, that is this month, and, yup, we're as excited as you are.
Now all that's left to do is speculation: Which games will be making the transition? With so many classics to choose from, it's hard to come to a consensus, but, luckily, this writer right here only has to agree with himself.
Which Game Boy Games Will Come to the Switch?
Nobody knows at this point, but if we were to draft up a wishlist, we think that the following games might make their way over into the online era:
- The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
- Pokémon Red & Green
- Pokémon Yellow
- Pokémon Solver, Gold & Crystal
- Mega Man V
Besides those, all the old-school Mario games are certainly a given, but the Game Boy games library is so vast that the options are almost limitless.
Given how much hype there is surrounding Pokémon right now, you can bet your house that all the Pokémon games will be a part of the service. After all, this is the 25th anniversary and Nintendo is currently pushing Pokémon front and center with a new anime, Arceus and the remasters:
