Gamers File Lawsuit Against Microsoft
As first reported by Dexerto, ten gamers have filed a lawsuit with the FTC against Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Their arguments are much the same as Sony's, but it's interesting to see individuals taking action against the move.
Per Dexerto:
A group of 10 gamers spread across California, New Mexico, and New Jersey filed a private consumer lawsuit on December 20, claiming Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard would tip the scales in their favor and limit competition in the region.Namely, with best-selling franchises like the Call of Duty series factored into the deal, the players expressed concern over Microsoft’s “market power” should they control the publisher.
We're unsure how seriously the FTC will take this lawsuit, but it's an exciting development nonetheless.
Would you be happy with Microsoft acquiring Activision Blizzard, or do you think it really would create a monopoly? It doesn't sound too anti-competitive to us, especially not with the kind of deals Microsoft are offering Sony right now.
