Ubisoft have pulled off a sneaky move by making Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint free to play over the course of this weekend. Why sneaky? Because it's not just a random display of chivalry. Ghost Recon is running a brand-new operation dubbed Amber Sky - a Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege crossover. What better way to promote it?
Ubisoft might have their own motivations for making Ghost Recon Breakpoint free for the time being, but that doesn't change the fact that the game is free to play at the moment. No reason not to take advantage, regardless of your interest in Operation Amber Sky.

Tom Clancy Crossover Leads to Free Ghost Recon Breakpoint
We don't know how we feel about Ubisoft's decision to merge some Rainbow Six Siege content into Ghost Recon Breakpoint, but we know how we feel about getting free stuff. That last bit is a direct result of the Tom Clancy crossover, so we're happy.
Ghost Recon Breakpoint was stripped of its price with the launch of its latest operation - Amber Sky, yesterday. The free-to-play status of the game will remain until the weekend's done, then it's back to its regular price, which is currently just $9. That's a number that could entice trialists to buy the game after they've tested it for free.
Another appetizer is the fact that progress made in Ghost Recon Breakpoint over the weekend will carry over whenever you decide to buy the game afterwards. It's a decent deal when all is said and done. If only GRB itself wasn't such a letdown.
