Ghostrunner 2: Rahu The Avatar Boss Guide
With Rahu being the second boss in Ghostrunner 2, you fight him in the mission "You Shouldn't Have Peeked", some of you might have some problems, especially with the parkour part. However, once you found your rhythm and understood the newly introduced gameplay mechanics, you won't struggle any longer. This boss fight has two phases, and we'll explain how to handle each one.
Phase 1
During phase 1 you get introduced to a portal-like gameplay mechanic, where you enter the black hole and get transported to another location. You have small portals that are connected to each other and a massive one beneath the platforms, saving you from any fall damage as it keeps you in a loop of falling.
During your time at the first stage, you have different platforms and multiple holograms you need to deal with - make good use of the portals, as they are a true lifesaver. I tried multiple ways to deal with the phase, and I summarize two options below:
Option 1: Be Aggressive And Master The Perfect-Parry
- Be quick on your feet and dash swiftly through the portals to reach the hologram
- If the hologram escapes your grasp, use the portal behind you as the holograms always escape to the opposite island
- Either dash and strike the hologram or use a Shuriken to freeze it
- Block or Perfect-Parry the incoming projectiles in order to defeat the other holograms on the different platforms
- Or use a Shuriken on the hologram, grapple onto them and finish it while switching the platforms
Option 2: Use Massive Portal To Get To The Other Platforms
- The method is probably far safer, as the holograms won't know how to hit you
- Use the first portal to reach the first hologram, finish it and jump into the massive portal beneath you
- While falling down, pinpoint the next hologram and defeat it
- Use the portal to get to the other one at the opposite platform, finish the next hologram
- Again, jump into the massive portal and repeat the steps until everyone is finished
Once the first batch of holograms is finished, the structure of the arena is changing and the enemies are floating above you. Now you have to use the large portal in order to kill them off.
Phase 2
With the next phase, you also enter a new arena with a lot of parkour elements. You also need perfect timing for switching the blue and orange platforms, so you won't fall into the abyss. Besides the parkour, Rahu will still attack you with everything he got, and that's where things will get a little bit tricky.
In order to get through this section alive, without panicking too much (just like I did) you need to stay focus and vigilant and know when to hit which button.
- Jump every time a shockwave approaches you
- Slide under the lasers when they're about to hit you
Once you found your own rhythm for knowing how to handle the attacks and master the parkour, you'll face Rahu directly, but here is where the challenge will find its peak and throw big laser wall at you.
With the start of the laser walls, you also hit the final part of the boss fight as you make your way to his eye, don't give up!
- Find a gap when the laser walls move towards you or slow down time in order to adjust your position correctly
- Once the laser walls don't have a gap anymore, move hard to the left or right, pass the laser and dash to the next bouncing platform
And once you're past the final laser walls, you reach Rahu's eye, and it's your time to finish him off. Sadly, there isn't a hidden achievement/trophy for this fight.
But, the fight against Rahu the Avatar kept a lasting impression on me. It was challenging, with how many things you need to do at the same time but also gave me a complete new look at boss fights in general, as it wasn't the typical 1v1. It took me several deaths in order to finish the fight, but the music continued to motivate me over and over again - splendidly executed!
