Sony just hosted their September 2021 PlayStation Showcase. And quite predictably they saved the best till last, revealing a trailer for God of War: Ragnarok that opened with the scene above. The trailer was very interesting, watch carefully and you might notice a few subtle clues about the new direction this game is going in.
This was always going to be the big one. The trailer to get people out of their seats. Yes, a new God of War: Ragnarok trailer was revealed at the Sony PlayStation showcase of September 2021. It was obviously exciting, but also a little bit suspect.
We won't give too much away, you'll need to watch it yourself beneath. But we will say this much - to any fans of the franchise, Atreus' words and the way he's portrayed in the trailer are clearly very suggestive.
The New Trailer For God of War: Ragnarok
First things first, you need to watch the trailer:
We got to see quite a decent bit of the game there, almost bordering on gameplay in some moments. And if you notice in a couple of the shots the world is looking for more expansive even than before. This leads us to speculate that the game will be far more open-world by design than it was in the previous title.
You'll also notice at the beginning of the trailer that Atreus can carry dead deer now. He's grown clearly far stronger than he was before, and so for the first time, we might be seeing Atreus as a playable character. Though it'll be hard to ever beat Kratos.

When Is God of War: Ragnarok's Release Date?
So far there's no official date or even year for God of War: Ragnarok's release, but with the previous title being so successful, we're quite sure that Sony will be happy to sit on this until it's perfect. That could mean 2022, but it will likely be longer, so don't hold your breath.
