GTA 6 is all that's on anybody's mind. Well, that's not exactly true, but it also is, so I stand by that statement. Now, a new GTA 6 location has been thrown into the mix.
Alright, y'all, so first of all: Here's the sauce. Now this leak was more about the RDR 1 and the GTA 4 remaster, but a little sidenote info concerned the location of GTA 6:
GTA 6 Could Be Set in Detroit & Chicago
This is 4Chan, so salt at the ready please, but here's the deal: The leaker makes some very solid claims about the Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4 remasters, and goes on to say that the reason we're getting both of these is to tide us over for 2023 and 2024, because in 2025, we are getting GTA 6. This goes hand in hand with just about every GTA 6 release date rumor we've ever heard, so... so far, so good.
Next, this 4Chan gossip queen casually mentions the fact that GTA 6 will be set in Detroit and Chicago, and even gives solid reasoning for it: After Dan Houser left Rockstar, the original Project Americas setting for GTA 6 was dead. Then, after that, Rockstar started working on a Fortnite-style live-service map and, originally, considered Florida as a setting. Word has it that they then had an issue with Florida, since it's all palm trees and sunshine, just like Los Santons. So, since Rockstar went from San Andreas to Liberty City, and from the gritty city back to the sunny Los Santons, they now want to keep that trend going and get back into a new concrete jungle. Enter Chicago and Detroit.
Bulletproof, right?
Well, not exactly, but it's as solid a leak as any, and, honestly, I would love a Chicago or Detroit setting. GTA 4 was lowkey my favorite GTA game, because I just can't help myself: I love me some gritty, realistic gangster sh*t – and what's more gritty than Detroit and Chicago? Exactly. If they now turn up the gangster by setting the game in the 50s and maybe let it run into the 70s... oh, boy, we'd be onto something.
