Rockstar's Site Goes Dark: GTA 6 Announcement Imminent

The release date of GTA 6 is what's on every gamer's mind at least once a week and now Rockstar have finally set an internal release date for GTA VI.

[Update June 15]

Rockstar's site has gone dark, suggesting an imminent announcement regarding GTA 6. Here’s what the site looked like this morning:

It's gone back to normal again, but we're standing by for a reveal soon...

[Update, May 17, 2022]

Will we ever stop wondering when GTA 6 will release? Will the day even come when we will have a definitive answer for you? One thing is for sure... it's not today. Today is just another day of sadness because Take-Two released its plans for their fiscal years 2023-2025... and GTA 6 is nowhere to be seen.

Leakers and speculators put the release date sometime between 2023 and 2027. And if we go by this fiscal statement, 2026/2027 does sound about right. Sadge.

[Update, March 14, 2022]Another week, another GTA 6 leak. We get it, there's always something, and it's often a bit dubious. But this is one of those occasions where we got a trustworthy source, a proper industry insider, spilling the tea and giving us another juicy bit of info about the most anticipated game of all time. Enough preamble, let's jump into the latest news: GTA 6 could be revealed this year, and we got another hint at a release date!

GTA 6 Will Be Revealed This Year, Release Date Leaked

This week's GTA drop comes courtesy of Chris’ Klippel, a French journalist and insider to the video game industry. He co-founded Rockstar Mag’ and is generally seen as one of the better sources for what's going on inside that company. Our good friend Chris' revealed some exciting new details on the development of GTA 6 and on a possible release date! Let's check out what he said:

A major milestone in #GTA6 development has been reached. Things should speed up (internally at Rockstar). I think a (real) announcement at the end of the year can be possible. Anyway, I don't see the game arriving before the end of 2024!
So, there you have it: A proper announcement for GTA 6 could come soon, and the release date is to be expected for Late 2024. Of course, we have to take Klippel at his word here and Rockstar has, as per, not said anything itself. But he is a well-connected guy and a trusted source, so if he claims that development is going well and that we will see more of the game soon, then I have to admit – I trust the man![Update, January 5, 2022]

Another leak has come out that states the same thing as what we wrote in the original article: GTA 6 will release in 2023.

The leaker that has revealed it this time is Tez2 and if you're an avid fan of Rockstar Games, you should be familiar with. Because of how big he is in the community, many fans actually believe him. And... well... this is the second leak that states the GTA 6 release date is in 2023. Could this actually be happening so soon?!

Naturally, Rockstar has not commented on this, so like with the leak above, take it with your grain of salt. However, we'll soon see if there is any truth to this. After all, according to this, we should be getting an announcement soon.

First things first – You want all the GTA 6 coverage, right? Well, boo, we got you. Everything we have on GTA 6 is right here:

Now let's skip to the good bit:

What is the GTA 6 Release Date?

An insider revealed that Rockstar has already set an internal release date for the game: GTA 6 will be released in 2023. He also goes into more details, saying:

"They're not going to announce GTA VI before GTA V's next-gen upgrade is released. Red Dead Redemption II was announced one year before its original release date. Expect GTA VI to be announced late next year if COVID hasn't set it back."

Now, as with all leaks, take this with the healthy amount of salt... or however you wanna apply the saying year. If you ask us though, this makes sense, since previous leakers and reports have also hinted at a release date for GTA VI between April 2023 and March 2024... which is... basically a whole year as a release window.
