Rockstar will implement a solution for the notoriously long loading times of GTA Online. All thanks to a modder who found the problem and made his own loading time patch.
Last week, this delightful story made the rounds on social media: GTA user and modder tostercx found a way to reduce the incredibly long loading times in GTA Online by 70%. Rockstar have taken notice and want to make the loading time patch for GTA Online official.
Rockstar have confirmed in an official statement to PC Gamer that the loading time patch from tostercx, also known as t0st, will find its way into the game in some official form:
After a thorough investigation, we can confirm that player t0st has indeed uncovered an aspect of the game code relating to the load times of the PC version of GTA Online that could be improved. As a result of this investigation, we have made some changes that will be implemented in an upcoming title update.
The GTA developers stressed that they cannot promise the 70% reduction in loading times. Normally, any fan who even dares to intervene in the games in any way is immediately sued to have the rug pulled out from under them. T0st at least received a pat on the back, oh... and $10,000. Not too bad.
