Leak: GTA 5 Remaster Will Delay GTA Trilogy Remaster

GTA Trilogy Remaster Release Date Delay

According to leaks, GTA 5 being released this year in November will push the release of the GTA Trilogy Remaster – GTA III, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas – into 2022.

So what are you more hyped for? GTA 5 making it to yet another generation of consoles or GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas getting a remaster? For me, it's easy picking: GTA Trilogy Remaster all the way. I mean, come on... how long has it been since I roamed the streets with CJ? I miss the boys. I miss Los Santos... or rather the hood. I miss Vice City. GTA 5 feels like a new game still. Sure, getting an upgraded version is cool, but it's a shame that it will delay the GTA Trilogy Remaster.

GTA 5 Will Delay GTA Trilogy Remaster

The topic was discussed on the Gold Gold Podcast (timestamp 59:30), between TheMW2Ghost and super-leaker Tom Henderson:

Applying simple logic, TheMW2Ghost suggested, “to release a banger like the trilogy remaster, even in the same year, is weird”.

To which TomHenderson simply replied: “We’ll see them next year”.

This is not surprising and, in fact, we already suspected as much, but it's still sad that this more or less confirms it: No GTA Trilogy Remaster before the holidays. To be fair though, these are massive games, so it should come as no surprise that not all four of them are releasing this year.

GTA 5, GTA Trilogy Remaster, GTA 6 Release Date

So when can we expect what? Well, the new GTA 5 version is already confirmed to drop on November 11 (which, by the way, is the same date that Skyrim is coming to yet another generation of consoles). The GTA Trilogy Remaster is fully expected to drop in 2022, and it would be all too perfect if we got GTA 6 in 2023, but opinions vary drastically on that front: It's not entirely unrealistic that we will get GTA 6 in 2023, but 2024 or even 2025 are just as possible.

In the meantime though, getting to play through GTA 5 again should more than tide us over and don't forget that GTA Online is getting a facelift as well.
