Halo Infinite just had a great presentation during Gamescom 2021's Opening Night Live showcase. We got to see a short cinematic for Halo's Season 1 and then heard the news that Halo Infinite's multiplayer and the campaign would be released simultaneously. But even more excitingly, we were then told the release date for Halo Infinite!
It's been a great Gamescom, albeit occasionally interrupted with awkward mid-presentation awards, and you should check out some of the highlights from the show. But nothing was ever going to excite me quite like Halo Infinite. This was a defining game of my youth, from the brilliance of Combat Evolve's story and matches on Hang em High, to the later thrills of Brains on Halo 3. We all know that Halo had some off years, but I think we're ready for the comeback. So what happened at Gamescom?

When Is Halo Infinite Released?
Halo Infinite will be released on December 8, 2021. This is quite a late release but it gives a buffer between Halo and its direct competitors - Call of Duty: Vanguard and Battlefield 2042. Interestingly, the pre-order graphic said available November 15 so this confirms early access for those who pre-order. That's not an entirely bad thing, it's an annoying way to leverage more pre-orders but given that the multiplayer is going free-to-play it seems forgivable.

How Much Will Halo Infinite Cost?
Halo Infinite will cost $59.99 (£54.99, €59.99) and is available for pre-order on the Xbox Store, Microsoft Store, and Steam. It seems a small price to pay for what could be the long-awaited return to glory for this franchise. And it looks like you'll be getting a lot between multiplayer, a campaign, and even (according to rumors) a Battle Royale.
