Hell Let Loose is a gritty, realistic WW2 shooter that's already available and successful on PC and is now coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X.
Hell Let Loose might just be the WW2 shooter for all those disappointed by Call of Duty's lack of realism in its weaponry or anyone missing the historic Battlefields and annoyed by the fact that Battlefield is set in modern times. The dark WW2 shooter is rightfully titled Hell Let Loose is coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X on October 5.
Hell Let Loose: What You Need to Know
What Is Hell Let Loose?
Hell Let Loose is a first-person shooter that takes more cues from Battlefield than Call of Duty: The game will have you duke it out in 50v50 battles that emphasize realism. Also, the game comes with some RTS mechanics:
Each team of 50 is made up of squads and each squad has a leader/officer, who can see a full tactical map and has extra abilities like bombing runs or throwing down smoke cover. All squad leaders have their own exclusive officer-voice channel and also have a channel for their own squad. Think of the officers as being RTS players commanding his troops on the tactical map – a crucial skill in order to win Hell Let Loose's objective-based games.
On PC, RTS mechanics in games are nothing new, but on consoles, these mechanics certainly are revolutionary. It'll be interesting how this will work out with so many console players not using headsets and obviously not being efficient at text chat due to obvious reasons.
Looks like Battlefield is not the most hardcore shooter experience on consoles anymore.
Does Hell Let Loose Have Crossplay?
Yes, Hell Let Loose has crossplay between the Xbox Series X and the PS5. There is no word on crossplay between consoles and PC. It is likely that this won't be implemented due to balancing.
How Do I Join the Hell Let Loose Open Beta?
The open beta is PS5-exclusive and will take place from September 16-20. To join, all you need is a PS5 and sign up – it's an open beta after all.
Hell Let Loose Setting, Maps & Game Modes
Hell Let Loose is set on the Western and Eastern Front, with the latter featuring classic maps like Stalingrad and Kursk, and the former featuring the Wester forces and maps we're used to from WW2 games.
