Sometimes a mini-game can just stump us. Here's a little guide to the Alohomora mini-game, as well as what you need to upgrade the spell, so even level 2 & 3 doors are no match for you.
So you're strolling around Hogwarts Legacy , when your path is blocked by a pesky lock. Now you may ask what you need to do now to gain access to these areas. Let me tell you how to unlock them with the beloved Alohomora spell.
Firstly to get the spell, you need to finish the main quest "The Caretaker’s Lunar Lament". During it the janitor will teach you the simple version of Alohomora. To upgrade the spell you need to collect a certain amount of Demiguise moons twice and bring them to him both times:
- Level 2: 9 Demiguise Moons
- Level 3: 13 Demiguise Moons
Now no lock can withstand your magic. Well... if you're good at the mini-game.
How To Unlock Doors & Chests With Alohomora
So you got your spell, but opening a door is not as simple as just waving your wand around. No, it needs a bit more effort from your side. Otherwise, no lock in the Wizarding World would be safe, right?
Every time you click on a lock a mini-game will open looking like this:
Now let's open the lock. The rings can both be moved separately and are connected either to the mechanism in the middle or on the right corner. By turning them you will notice, that when they are either at a cardinal or inter cardinal position the corresponding mechanism will turn.
The goal of the mini-game is to find the right angle for both rings, and hold them at that angle for a few seconds. Here's how:
- Start by turning the first mechanism until you've found the correct position (you will hear a ding).
- While holding the first position so that the mechanics continues to spin around, begin turning the second wheel until you find the correct position.
- At this point both wheels should be moving at the same time, and you will hear a charging sound. After both wheels have been spinning at the same time for a few seconds, the lock will open.
Easy!
There are many locks all over Hogwarts Legacy. Which means you don't need to worry about training to do this. Eventually, it will feel like second nature to you.
