Since Honkai: Star Rail is a gatcha game, one of its main features for getting new characters and weapons is the gatcha pull-system. So what are the odds of you getting your dream character?
Honkai: Star Rail is, just like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Impact 3rd, a gatcha game. In other words, it is possible for players to get new characters and weapons by pulling on a banner. What you get is, to a large extent, purely based on luck. However, there are a few rules that take action if you are particularly unlucky!
It's important to remember that you are never obligated to pull for more characters than the game gives you just by playing. The game is one hundred percent playable without spending any money and is at least as much fun!
And don't forget about the amazing free characters the game gives you as well:
Honkai Star Rail: How The Warp Banners Work
The Warp Banners in Honkai: Star Rail work pretty similar to Genshin Impacts's Wishing Banners. You need a currency, called “Stellar Jades” which you can obtain through quests and chests. You need 160 Stellar Jades to create one Star Rail Pass, to roll on the standard banner, oroneStar Rail Special Pass, to roll on the special event banner.
- A fancy game can only be played with fancy equipment, right? Maybe this Logitech G 733 K/DA headset is right up your alley!
If you prefer saving your Stellar Jades, you can do ten pulls at once at 1600 Stellar Jades (10 Star Rail Passes / 10 Star Rail Special Passes).
You can also buy Oneiric Shards and exchange them for Stellar Jades. Oneiric Shards are Honkai: Star Rail's premium currency, that can be purchased with real money.
Limited Character Event Warp Banners
This is where to find the newest character the game as to offer! On this banner, you will have the opportunity to pull for a specific, limited character.
There is 50% chance in you getting that character. If you lose the 50/50, you will get a unit from the Regular Warp Banner. If you lost once, the next 5-Star character you will get is guaranteed the limited banner unit!
Here are the odds for the Limited Character Event Warp Banner:
- 0.6% chance of receiving a 5-star character
- 5.1% chance of receiving a 4-star character or Light Cone
- 90 pulls to guarantee a 5-star character
After every ten pulls, you are also guaranteed to get a 4-star unit or a Light Cone (weapon).
Regular Warp Banners
On the Regular Warp Banner, you can't lose 50/50, since here are all the units you get when “losing” on the Event Banner. Most characters on the Regular Banner are pretty good as well, especially early on in the game. You can get 5-star weapons here as well.
Here are the odds for the Regular Banner:
- 0.6% chance of receiving a 5-star character or Light Cone
- 5.1% chance of receiving a 4-star character or Light Cone
- 90 pulls to guarantee a 5-star character or Light Cone
The characters, that are featured in the Regular Banner, are:
- Bailu
- Bronya
- Clara
- Gepard
- Himeko
- Welt
- Yanqing
The Light Cones, that are featured in the Regular Banner, are:
- But the Battle Isn't Over
- In the Name of the World
- Moment of Victory
- Night on the Milky Way
- Sleep like the Dead
- Something Irreplaceable
- Time Waits for No One
After more and more new characters get released, we can hope that HoYoverse adds some more to the Regular Banner as well!
After 300 warps on the regular warp banner, you can pick one of the five-star characters from the Stellar Warp. However, pick wisely, as you can only do this once!
Light Cone Warp Banner
The Light Cone Warp Banners function similarly to the other banners, with the difference that you pull for weapons on here. The odds and pity-system work a little different here as well:
- 0.8% chance of receiving a 5-star Light Cone
- 6.6% chance of receiving a 4-star Light Cone
- 80 pulls to guarantee a 5-star Light Cone
If you don’t receive the limited Light Cone, you’re guaranteed to receive one within the next 80 pulls.
Soft Pity In Honkai: Star Rail
Soft pity is a mechanic that makes it more likely to get a 5-star character or Light Cone after a certain amount of pulls, without hitting hard pity (90 for character, 80 for weapons). For the character banners, soft pity hits at 75 pulls. For weapons, it is a bit earlier on 65 pulls.
All that is left to do now is to pray that we get our dream character! We wish you the best of luck!
