Let me start off by saying that I’m more of a single-player kinda gal, and I really don’t need a game like Horizon Forbidden West – that I mainly play for the story – to have a multiplayer. But on the other hand, I would be so down to go on raids with my mates (ha) and hunt some Thunderjaws with them.
And if you're wondering where this is suddenly coming from: I’m not just pulling this out of my anal hole, I’m dead serious that Guerrilla Games might be working on a multiplayer for Horizon Forbidden West.
The job posting in question can be found on Guerilla Games’ career page and if you’re a senior social systems designer or senior games writer… well, go on ahead and shape the gaming future. Specifically, the job listing looks for an applicant that “[reports] to the Lead Game Designer [and] [works] within a core team of multiple designers focused on social systems and player engagements ... engage players in social interactions to create lasting relationships; where compatible players can create Guild-like groups to explore together."
Will Horizon Forbidden West Have Multiplayer?
According to a job description by Guerrilla Games, Horizon Forbidden West might have a multiplayer. Everything about this screams multiplayer, actually, you just can’t convince me otherwise. Coming back to what I said above, I think, as great as Horizon Forbidden West will be as a single player adventure, it has huge potential for an open-world multiplayer game. Maybe they’ll do it like they’ve done it with Mass Effect 3 or Dragon Age: Inquisition, where their main focus was always the single player campaign, and the added bonus was the multiplayer.
When Will Horizon Forbidden West be released?
Horizon Forbidden West will be released on February 18, 2022. Now if you think: but that’s in less than half a year, how would they make a multiplayer in that short amount of time? Well, if they just take the single player world and add the online feature to it… it would make sense. Because what would you do in a Horizon Forbidden West multiplayer? Hunt machines, probably. And that’s what you already do in the single player. It’s the online component that they’d be missing… read quote above.
