Talonflame Guide: Basics
Mobility, mobility, mobility. That's what Talonflame is all about. His pace makes him good for beginners, as you can dash in and out of combat in no time. Essentially, Talonflame is the polar opposite to Snorlax... but let's dig deeper in this guide.
- Offense: 2.5/5
- Endurance 1.5/5
- Mobility 5/5
- Scoring 3.5/5
- Support 0.5/5
Talonflame Guide: Evolution
Fresh out the box, Talonflame starts off as Fletchling and evolves to Fletchinder at level 5, before evolving into Talonflame at level 7.
Talonflame Guide: Unique Abilities
- Gale Wings – This ability gives Talonflame increased movement speed when his HP is high.
- Basic Attack – Every third of your basic attacks is boosted and does AoE damage.
With the increased movement speed at high HP, you are at your fastest. Naturally, then, you'll want to keep your HP high throughout the game.
Talonflame Guide: Moves
Level 1
- Peck | 5s cooldown – Talonflame pecks the opponent 3 times.
- Acrobatics | 8s cooldown – You attack and then escape in any direction by activating the attack a second time.
How to build: Early on, Acrobatics is more useful, since it allows you to deal damage, without necessarily taking damage. Thus, it's an easy pick at level 1.
Level 5
- Flame Charge | 6.5s cooldown – You increase your movement speed and charge forward to deal damage. The upgrade lets you ignore defenses for a short time after using the attack.
- Aerial Ace | 6s cooldown – You charge at the opponent and attack. Your next attack is automatically boosted. The upgrade for Aerial Ace simply increases its damage.
How to build: Both attacks give you added mobility, and you can either opt for Flame Charge to ignore defenses and deal more damage or pick Aerial Ace to just flat out deal more damage. The choice is yours.
Level 7
- Fly | 11s cooldown – Talonflame flies high enough to become un-targetable, before swooping down to deal damage in a large area of effect. The upgrade displaces all opponents hit by your attack.
- Brave Bird | 10s cooldown – You attack an AoE and lose HP in the process. If you perform a boosted attack shortly afterwards, you can reset Flame Charge/Aerial Ace. When upgraded, you lose less HP while attacking.
How to build: It's hard to pass up on Brave Bird – the reset for Flame Charge/Aerial Ace means that you can easily burst down opponents.
Level 9 – Talonflame Unite Move
- Flame Sweep – A sweep attack that leaves behind a line of flame, which damages and displaces all opposing Pokémon.
Essentially, you'll be damaging your opponents and push them towards your team, while blocking their escape thanks to the fire wall. The move is also extremely useful to keep opposing Pokémon away from objectives.
Talonflame Guide: Item Build
- Held Items | Go with Scope Lens, Attack Weight and Float Stone.
- Battle Item | Eject Button or X Attack.
Scope Lens and Attack Weight increase your damage: The former boosts your crit damage, while the latter gives you a damage boost after scoring a goal. Since Talonflame is great at scoring, that's obviously a big win. Float Stone will amplify your movement speed, giving you even more mobility.
Eject Button is your get out of jail free card, when things get sticky. Alternatively, X Attack gives you even more burst damage.
Talonflame Guide: Game Strategy
Talonflame wants to be in and out of battle and deal quick burst damage. It's crucial to always keep moving and only engage when all your attacks are ready. Generally, Talonflame can roam very efficiently and keep enemies away from objectives with his Unite move.
