How To Play Venusaur in Pokémon Unite

Venusaur Guide: Basics

Stats-wise, Venusaur is very similar to Charizard and is an absolute attacking beast. His ability to attack from range, gives this OG-Pokémon some serious versatility and allows you to force everybody to go plant-based. Sorry... I had to...

  • Offense: 4.5/5
  • Endurance 2/5
  • Mobility 2/5
  • Scoring 2.5/5
  • Support 1/5

Venusaur Guide: Evolution

You all know how this goes: Bulbasaur evolves into Ivysaur, which evolves into Venusaur – at levels 5 and 9 respectively.

Venusaur Guide: Unique Abilities

  • Overgrow – You deal more damage, the lower your HP is.
  • Basic Attack – You get a boosted attack with every third basic attack, which deals more damage and pulls in opponents with your vines.

Venusaur Guide: Moves

Level 1

  • Seed Bomb | 6s cooldown – A seed that deals damage in a designated area, affecting all Pokémon caught in the blast radius.
  • Razor Leaf | 9s cooldown – Venusaur launches his leaves and deals damage.

How to build: Though Razor Leaf is more iconic, Seed Bomb is more useful, since it deals damage in an area and can be used for zoning. We recommend Seed Bomb at level 1 and Razor Leaf at level 3.

Level 5

  • Sludge Bomb | 6s cooldown – You'll throw some sludge that deals area damage and leaves opposing Pokémon poisoned, as well as decreasing their movement speed and special defense. The upgrade gives you a larger area of effect.
  • Giga Drain | 7s cooldown – Drains HP from Pokémon in an area of effect, while healing yourself. Additionally, you get a defense boost and take less damage for a short time. The upgrade increases the amount of HP that you restore.

How to build: If you want to build a more sustainable Venusaur, then Giga Drain is where it's at. If you want to annoy the enemy team and set up easier kills for you and your teammates, then Sludge Bomb is your pick. The latter can be especially devastating in team fights.

Level 11

  • Solar Beam | 11s cooldown – A beam of solar energy that deals damage. The upgrade reduces the cooldown.
  • Petal Dance | 11s cooldown – Increases your movement speed and healing for a short time, while dealing damage to Pokémon in the area of effect around you. The upgrade increases the area of effect.

How to build: It doesn't get more nostalgic and iconic than solar beam. Thankfully, it is also a strong move in the game, since it offers incredible damage that you don't want to miss out on.

Level 9 – Venusaur Unite Move

  • Verdant Anger – Another AoE attack: Venusaur launches a seed, that splits and deals heavy damage, while also causing slows to everybody that is damaged.

Another damage-dealing move that disrupts the enemy team. It's a pattern at this point, and it's the pattern that Venusaur is all about: Damage and slows.

Venusaur Guide: Item Build

  • Held Items | Go with Shell Bell, Wise Glasses and Focus Band.
  • Battle Item | X Attack.

Shell Bell increases your healing abilities, Wise Glasses increases the damage on your special attacks, and Focus Band recovers HP when you're low. All in all, it supports Venusaurs tankiness, while also increasing his AoE damage and stun/slow duration. Good stuff.

Eject Button is an escape tool that you can opt for, but X Attack is more suited to Venusaur, since it adds attack/special attack damage, which is ideal for Venusaur's play style.

Venusaur Guide: Game Strategy

Damage and slows and just generally being annoying and disruptive. That's what Venusaur is all about. It's not the flashiest or most exciting Pokémon, but it will help your team control the field. Simple, but effective.
