Jedi Survivor: How To Beat The Rancor
The Rancor in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor can be found at the end of the Sodden Grotto on the planet Koboh. However, we strongly advise against facing it straight away as this boss is genuinely hard and will be more challenging than anything you've faced in the game so far.
We would suggest to first fully explore Koboh as much as you can and to upgrade your skills and stats, especially Health and Force.
Prepare to die multiple times as Rancor can kill you in just two hits, even if you have your health upgraded. To beat it, you must be patient, evade, jump over, or block its attacks before unleashing a flurry of strikes and quickly retreating to prepare for the next attack.
For this fight, we recommend using the Single Stance, which offers a good balance of power and defense, or the dual wield stance, which is ideal for dealing more damage.
With the single stance, you can deal a significant amount of damage while still being able to defend against the boss's attacks. You can't block most of it's attacks, but it's claw strikes can be parried. Additionally, the single stance has more speed than the other stance, making it easier for the player to dodge and evade the Rancor's attacks.
The dual wield will let you do more damage though, but it will also make you more vulnerable. If you aren't super comfortable with evading, we wouldn't recommend the dual wield. If you're a Souls-like pro, then definitely try it out.
Rancor has two major unblockable attacks - a lunge attack and a ground attack - that players need to look out for and evade appropriately. Caution is advised in general: The Rancor can attack quite quickly and fiercly, so it's recommended to always watch him carefully. Avoid attacks, get one or two hits in, and retreat. Rinse and repeat.
The Rancor fight doesn't have different phases, so if you get into a rhythm to dodge attacks and chip away its health, you're already as good as done with the fight. Just keep being careful and keep a watchful eye on it's unblockable attacks and you should have this fight done in no-time.
