Jurassic Park Working on a Call of Duty Clone

The Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise just filed a patent for Jurassic World: Primal Ops. Not much is known about this other than the title, but we know from experience: If it says 'Ops' in the title, you can expect to do some shooting.

Jurassic World: Primal Ops. No, this is not a joke. The Jurassic Park/Jurassic World franchise figured: "If it worked 15 times for Activision, it's gonna work for us too," so they pulled a fast one and copied the unoriginal: Call of Duty. NBC Universal just filed a trademark for the title 'Jurassic World: Primal Ops' and did so under Computer & Software Products, meaning it's not a movie – it's a game.

What is Jurassic World: Primal Ops?

To be fair, we don't have anything, but the name, but... to be even fairer: Jurassic World Primal Ops is definitely a shooter. Count on it, take it to the bank, deposit that and if you do need the off-chance b-roll, then let me say this: Maybe, just maybe, it's a tactical/strategy game, but nah... this is gonna be a shooter. I'm getting real Turok vibes from this one, and if you're too young to remember that game: It was a 'you vs dinosaurs'-shooter that came out way before shooters were an online-only thing. Branching off into FPS would also make sense for Jurassic World, since the franchise has got the strategy tactical thing covered with Jurassic World Evolution.

What's noticeable – but unsurprising – is that the patent mentions both the terms 'mobile' and 'physical disc', pointing to this being an all-systems affair in all its polygamous glory. If this all got you hyped, then mind you that this trademark was filed on August 26. It's a long way from trademark to game usually, unless they're halfway through production and realized "oh sh*t, what are we calling this thing?"

Still, if it's the Jurassic World aspect that's got you hyped and not the shooter part, then you have Jurassic World Evolution 2 to look forward to: The game is releasing later this year, as well as a sequel to Jurassic World Aftermath, which is also going to be available sometime soon.
