This announcement was fairly surprising and might hurt Xbox Fans all around the Globe, but was inevitable after ten years of service. Microsoft's Head of Xbox Games Studio, Matt Booty, has announced the end of development for the Xbox One.

Microsoft: No more Xbox One Games?

It's a decision that had to come at one point in time: Microsoft will no longer develop first-party games for the Xbox One. In an interview by Axios, Microsoft's Head of Xbox Games Studio, Matt Booty, revealed this decision to the public.

We’ve moved on to Gen 9”, Booty said. This indicates that Microsoft will now focus fully in the Xbox Series X and S, which have been out for nearly three years now. But the work on Xbox One titles won't stop completely. Booty stated, that some teams are still supporting ongoing games like Minecraft. But no other team is working on new games for the old console generation.

"No internal teams are now working on games for the older gen consoles outside of support for ongoing games like Minecraft."

But there is still some good news for all Xbox One owners: Booty also noted, that Microsoft's Gen 9 Games are playable on Gen 8 Xbox One consoles via Microsoft's streaming cloud tech.

So it not the end for Xbox One in general, but the time will come, when all of us have to move on. Just like with the Xbox 360 or all the other consoles and platforms.
