Last of Us and Uncharted devs Naughty Dog are working on the studio's first standalone multiplayer gamer: This is no longer a leak, but confirmed by the developers.
The Last of Us is a great franchise. Uncharted is a great franchise. And... for those of you who remember, Jak & Daxter was (is?) a great franchise. Point is: Naughty Dog can do no wrong, and now the super-devs are working on their very first standalone multiplayer game.
Naughty Dog Working On Standalone Multiplayer Game
We've reported on this before, assuming that the one job listing we based our article on was suggesting Naughty Dog is working on a Battle Royale multiplayer for The Last of Us 2.
Mind you, this new confirmation that they are actually working on a standalone multiplayer neither confirms nor denies that they might be working on Factions 2 – but it does make it a lot more likely that we didn't get those aforementioned The Last of Us 2 Battle Royale rumors for no reason:

If the literal picture of Ellie isn't convincing enough what makes this even more likely are the comments Naughty Dog made when releasing The Last of Us 2, which hinted at a multiplayer portion coming down the road:
You will eventually experience the fruits of our team's online ambition, but not as part of The Last of Us: Part 2. When and where it will be realised is still to be determined. But rest assured, we are as big a fan of Factions as the rest of our community and are excited to share more when it's ready.
If you've never played Factions, then let me tell you that it is quite the experience. The interesting thing about a Battle Royale version would be, that it would quite literally force you to be 'the last of us'. Hardly any game would be better suited for a gritty, mature Battle Royale than The Last of Us 2 and that is exactly what we are hoping for with Factions 2.
