Obsidian is working on a new video game that sounds mighty similar to Disco Elysium
Courtesy of Grubbsnax, we have a new rumor for you regarding the latest game from Obsidian. Yes, while they are busy with Avowed (which looks incredible), they are already working on an entirely new game, which essentially is a medieval Disco Elysium. Sounds good? Well, it's about to get better:
New Obsidian Game: Disco Elysium Clone?
Apparently the game will be focused and structured around interaction and experimenting a lot with 'who said what, and how does x result in y'. The team behind the game is rather small, so it's not the full Obsidian machinery. The setting is 16th century Europe, so in that regard, the game will distance itself from Disco Elysium. Also, there will be no combat in the game, as this will be all about solving murders, in the good ol' classical Murder Mystery RPG style. Love it.
In that sense, all you really do is talk to people, in order to further build cases. Early rumors have it that you can wrongly accuse people of murder, which will then alter the storyline and have its own consequences.
Though the details are super sparse right now – there's not even a title attached to the game – the supposed release date is in 2022 already, so we can expect a lot more news to drop on this rather soon. While we wait for this Obsidian gem to drop though, there is another that we're also eagerly awaiting: Avowed looks super-slick and tackles RPG from the Skyrim-side-of things. So, all in all, Obsidian is once again looking to set up a monster year, and seem to be further establishing themselves as the boss a** b*tch of RPGs. Bethesda, BioWare... take notes.
Oh... and Sony guys... don't forget that Obsidian works for Microsoft only. This one won't come to PlayStation, but lucky for you, it will likely launch on Game Pass, which you can cop for just $1 with our trick:
