We have been expecting this one for a long time, and it's finally official: Sony announced their next State of Play! As usual, the Japanese publisher is going to reveal news and fresh footage from a selection of their upcoming titles. And who knows, maybe we will hear something about a certain service of theirs as well... anyway, let's check out the announcement and see what we can look forward to!

Next Sony State of Play This Wednesday, March 9

The next Sony State of Play will happen on Wednesday, March 9 at 2 PM Pacific / 5 PM Eastern / 11:00 PM CET. The publisher promises "new reveals and eye-catching updates for PS5 and PS4 titles". They further detailed the show, how long it will be and what will be featured:

The show is clocking in around 20 minutes, give or take, with a special focus on highlighting great games coming from some of our beloved Japanese publishers, though we’ll have a few updates from other developers located around the world, too.

So what does that mean? Sony doesn't have that many prominent Japanese studios under their belt or working with them right now. Of course there is Square Enix with Forspoken, which was just delayed and will probably be shown. Ghostwire: Tokyo might make an appearance, even though that is out in a couple of weeks. And that might be it! But we do know some stuff about those "developers located around the world", namely the much anticipated Hogwarts Legacy, which leakers anticipate to make an appearance here as well.

20 minutes is really not that much time, so don't expect a hugely mind-blowing show. We do however hope for one big reveal: Sony showing off their Game Pass competitor with the codename Spartacus. The service has already leaked and appeared in some regions, so we expect a formal announcement in this State of Play. Very excited to see that one! Otherwise? Let's wait and see, hopefully Sony has some nice surprises for us in store...
