Rumors suggest that Nintendo Switch Online will add Nintendo 64 Games to their repertoire. A Nintendo Insider has claimed that the company plans to bring a number of Nintendo 64 games to the Nintendo Switch in the near future. Let's take a look at whether we can expect to see Nintendo 64 games on the Nintendo Switch...
How could you not be hyped by the prospect of Nintendo 64 games on the Nintendo Switch? It's the ultimate combination: Nintendo's classic games on Nintendo's best console yet. There's simply no denying that we will be jumping for joy if what has been rumored is, indeed, true. We know that this is just Nintendo cashing in on our nostalgia, but you know what? We don't care.
Are Nintendo 64 Games Coming to the Nintendo Switch?
Nintendo 64 games will be coming to the Nintendo Switch, according to Nintendo Insider Nate Drake. What's more, various outlets including Eurogamer have confirmed the rumors, suggesting that not only was Drake's previous claims that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games were coming to Nintendo Switch Online, but the N64 was also in the cards for a Switch upgrade. Speaking on his podcast, Nate Drake had the following to say...
Eurogamer went one step further having noted that additional platforms will also be added to Nintendo Switch Online in the future... Today I would like to add to that, that yes, that information is accurate and one of the platforms that will be coming to Nintendo Switch Online in the future is the revolutionary Nintendo 64.
If Nate Drake's claims turn out to be true (which seems quite likely), Nintendo will be adding the games as part of a higher-priced new service. We are not really sure if we are okay with this development, though, as Nintendo's online service is pretty sub-par when compared to its competitors. That being the case, it seems a bit rich to charge even more for a few 20-plus-year-old games.
We have to admit that, despite the fact that a higher-priced Nintendo Online sounds bizarre, we are pretty excited about the idea of Nintendo 64 games on the Nintendo Switch. Could you imagine getting your grubby mitts on a Nintendo Switch version of Majora's Mask? What about Super Mario 64? We know that it was already remade for the DS back in the day, but that was over a decade ago now! Then, of course, there's the obvious... Conker's Bad Fur Day!
So, let's summarize the whole thing: Nate Drake said that we will be getting Game Boy and Game Boy Color games on the Switch, Eurogamer confirmed this, and then Drake said that they will also be putting N64 games on the platform. Hyped? How could you not be? That would be, quite simply, bonkers.
