"Ori and the Blind Forest" and "Ori and the Will of the Wisps" are probably two of the most beautiful games ever produced. But what about Ori 3? It’s been more than three years since the last Ori game came out, so let's take a look at potential hints that could indicate a sequel.
Some games are just out of this world when it comes to visuals. The Ori series definitely belongs in that category of games. Their beautiful artwork, the atmospheric soundtrack and emotional storyline about Ori, Naru and Ku is an unforgettable experience for eyes, ears and the heart.
It doesn’t come as a surprise that Ori was seen as one of the Top 7 Most Hyped Video Games of 2020 and has found a lot of fans on PC, Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
Even commercially, the game was a huge success, so it wouldn't be wrong to expect a third Ori game in the future. We will tell you whether you should expect an Ori 3 or not in this article.
Ori 3: Will of The Wisps Sequel Could Silently Be In Development, According To Leaker
"Ori and the Will of the Wisps" was released in March 2020. After the game's great success, questions about another sequel quickly arose. However, Moon Studios initially put a stop to those speculations. In a Reddit "Ask us anything", the developers explained that the Ori story is basically complete within the framework of the two games.
At the same time, however, the developers emphasized that by designing the end of "The Will of the Wisps" they deliberately kept a small back door open for a sequel.
The latest new movement on a potential sequel comes from a leaker named Nweedle. In March 2023, he claimed that Ori 3 is already in development, though they don't know which studio is in charge of it.
La tercera entrega de Ori esta en desarrollo, aun no tengo informacion del estudio que se esta encargando de esta nueva entrega, pero parece que el desarrollo va por muy buen camino.#LeakExpress

This cannot easily be refuted: In fact, Microsoft ended its cooperation with Moon Studios a while ago, after former employees of Moon Studios had sharply criticized an extremely negative workplace environment, so it would be anything but a surprise if Ori 3 is developed by another studio. Furthermore, Moon Studios is known to be actively working on another project that has nothing to do with the Ori series.
On the other hand, that's pretty much everything that has been heard about a potential Ori 3 yet, so if a sequel is really in development, we expect it to be in a very early development status. From an economic perspective, it would be surprising if we would never get to see a successor, since it just wouldn't make sense to ignore the financial potential. Our educated guess would be that a game that is connected to the Ori games will be released during the next two or three years.
Games Similar To "Ori and the Will of the Wisps"
Even though the Ori series is a masterpiece, it has some serious competitors when it comes to the gameplay. Whoever is generally keen on platformer games should also take a look at the following titles:
Rayman Legends
Rayman Legends already has a few years under its belt, but it looks great and impresses with a very creative level design. Ultimately, Rayman Legends is certainly a lot more hectic than the Ori series, but it's still a lot of fun. Pro-tip: just play the free demo!
Hollow Knight
Even closer to Ori is Hollow Knight . The game was developed by Team Cherry and is, despite their cute protagonist, pretty dark if we compare it to the Ori series. But when it comes to the gameplay, both games seem to be quite similar, although still unique in their own ways, which is why many Ori fans should at least try out Hollow Knight once.
