Shortly before the European release of the next-generation console PlayStation 5, Sony is launching a new firmware update. The Day One Update to version 20.02 is available for download just in time for the release.
While North America has been enjoying the benefits of PlayStation 5 for about a week now, we have to be patient until November 19. Just in time for the PS5 release, the first firmware update of the next-generation console is available for download, which carries the version number 20.02.
PlayStation 5 Firmware 20.02 Released
The PlayStation 5 firmware update download is about 868 MB in size. If you have downloaded the day one patch, the console will update to version 20.02-02.25.00. What exactly is behind the update is unclear.
Sony only talks about "performance improvements for the system" - but we're not used to that from PlayStation 4. If so, which of the known bugs of the PlayStation 5 will patch fix? After all, the next-gen console has been having some notable issues like unexpected shutdowns, freezes, crashes, and more. The download of the PlayStation 5 firmware 20.02 should start automatically when the console is first set up, which some Europeans may be facing tomorrow.
If you haven't been able to get your hands on PlayStation 5 for tomorrow's release, you should check out some popular online stores. Several retailers have already announced that they will be offering more PS5 consoles tomorrow, November 19.
