Just hours ago, information was leaked about the upcoming PlayStation event in August. If those leaks are true, then we know the exact date of the event, and that God of War: Ragnarok, Horizon Forbidden West, and PSVR 2 will be showcased there. This is huge news and seems to corroborate what most spectators were predicting about a summer PlayStation showcase.
Okay, first things first. There are actually two leakers - a Tweeter and a Redditor. We'll get into exactly what they said in a moment, but we want to make something clear upfront: leakers are always on the lookout for attention online, so it's right to take what they say with a grain of salt. But it's also been clear for a long time that PlayStation is indeed planning a big event for August, and that these are exactly the titles they would push. So while the leaks may have inconsistencies, we think in both cases, they are probably only wrong about the details.
What Did The Leaks Claim?
Redditor u/QuimSix claimed that trailers for both God of War: Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West were coming out in August, while Tweeter @geronimo_73 (Roberto Serrano) went further and gave the exact date of August 12 for these trailers to be shown. Here's @geronimo_73's bolder claim:

We can say now with some confidence that we will get both of these trailers at a single PlayStation State of Play show in August.
The first half of the month makes more sense, based simply on the predictable alignment of big showcases. And Thursday is often the industry's choice for big reveals and updates, as it perfectly captures the weekend hype, so August 12 might simply be an educated guess, but it would be a good one. Who knows? Perhaps as soon as August 5.
If you're interested in the big summer gaming conferences, there's more than just Sony out there:

How Has Playstation Responded?
So far PlayStation has not responded to either leak, but these leaks both occurred just a few hours before the time of writing (12 July). We'll keep this article updated if Sony chooses to address the rumors. But as we've seen in recent years, leakers provide such good marketing for the industry that they're tolerated more often than not.
