Everything We Know About Pokémon Legends Arceus

Pokémon Legends Arceus Release Date

Pokémon Legends Arceus will be released on January 28, 2022. This has been officially confirmed by Nintendo. The game follows shortly after the release of the Pokémon Shining Pearly and Brilliant Diamond on November 10, 2021. We also wrote about the Pokémon Arceus release date here:

What Is the Pokémon Legends Arceus Setting & Story?

Pokémon Legends Arceus will be set long before the Pokémon world that were used and accustomed to. It is set in an ancient era of the Sinnoh region, and allegedly your goal will be to create Sinnoh's first Pokédex. Stylistically, the period kind of resembles feudal-era Japan, with the architecture of the world being wooden and nothing that resembles Pokéshops or Pokémon Centers anywhere, as you can see in the trailer.

Granted, the trailer does only show the first town of the game, which historically has always been a tad smaller than the rest in every Pokémon game. Maybe the extended world is much more advanced than what the trailer implies, but the fact remains that Pokémon Legends Arceus is set deep in the past.

Is Pokémon Legends Arceus an Open-World Game?

Pokémon Legends Arceus is the first entry in the Pokémon series that will have an open-world. If you're familiar with Breath of the Wild, then you'll be quite familiar with the way the open-world should be tackled. Judging by everything we know so far, Pokémon Arceus and Breath of the Wild share a lot of similarities.

What Will the Pokémon Arceus Gameplay Be Like?

In terms of gameplay, we expect obvious changes due to the time the game is set in. For example, there is no Pokédex and your Pokéballs will be steam-powered. Also, it seems that there is no such thing as Poké Trainers yet, so don't expect to be competing in any leagues – there is no Pokémon League in this game and no gym leaders.

Unlike other Pokémon games, the Pokémon in this one are not exactly all buddy-buddy with the humans yet. In Pokémon Legends Arceus, Pokémon still roam wild and occupy the mountainsides, way off from city-life.

We know that the game will feature many legendary Pokémon and also, Arceus will be in the game and is considered to be the god of all Pokémon.

Who is Arceus?

As we just said, Arceus is the god of all Pokémon and is said to have shaped all there is in the world. Yup, that means Arceus created the entire Sinnoh region and maybe even all the Pokémon, including the Lake Guardians and the Creation Trio. There will still be a lot of reveals around Arceus, but you can already get a glimpse of him/her/it in the 2009 film Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life

What Starter Pokémon Are in Pokémon Legends Arceus?

The starter Pokémon in Pokémon Arceus Legends are going to be Oshawott, Rowlet and Cyndaquil. A slight departure from the usual Sinnoh region starter Pokémon and the first time that you can choose between Pokémon from different regions at the start of a main-series game.

Will All the Pokémon be in Pokémon Legends Arceus?
