Of the different currencies in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Xerxes is probably the most confusing one. The description calls it an “old currency” and it’s not clear in the beginning of the game, what Xerxes is used for. It’s actually very useful though and has a couple of great uses you should know about.

How To Use Xerxes in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown

There are two general uses for Xerxes in the game: buying unique items from the Scrapper and paying for advanced upgrades.

Scrapper

You find the Scrapper in The Depths. You end up there after a story sequence a few hours into the game. While exploring The Depths, you can find the Scrapper in an isolated corner of the area. He will sell strange amulets, which have strong advantages but also massive disadvantages.

For example, the Starving Heart amulet will gradually restore health, but in turn lowers your melee damage.

Advanced Upgrades In The Haven

In the hub area called The Haven, you will find two helpful NPCs: Kaheva, who will upgrade your weapons in The Lost Crown, and The Mage, who can upgrade your health potions. While these upgrades mostly cost Time Crystals, they will eventually also charge you some Xerxes for their services.

How To Find More Xerxes

Xerxes is given to you as reward for finishing side quests and for completing particularly difficult platforming challenges. You will find these particularly hard gauntlets everywhere in the game, mostly by going slightly off the beaten path. These will really test your skills with Sargon’s movement abilities, so be ready to suffer.
