Another month, another PS Plus offering, and, of course another leak way ahead of time: The free PlayStation Plus games for October were leaked, and they are just as disappointing as what PS Plus had to offer us in previous months.
First, things first, here's a friendly reminder: You can still get the PS Plus games for September until October 5. So if you haven't copped Overcooked, Hitman or Predator: Hunting Grounds, then... don't, they're not worth it. Unless you're into the Hitman franchise and somehow haven't played Hitman 2 yet, since its release three years ago.
October is no better than September, though. Seriously...:
Free PS Plus Games October 2021
- Hell Let Loose
- Mortal Kombat X
- PGA Tour 2K21
I can vibe with Hell Let Loose – we wrote about the game here, and it's decent enough – but I'm not sure if it's really at home on consoles. Plus, with Battlefield and CoD looming... I don't know...
What I do know, is that offering Mortal Kombat X for free at the end of 2021 is a joke: We're on Mortal Kombat XI DLC #1294, and no one gives a flying f*ck about Mortal Kombat X in October 2021. As for PGA Tour 2k21... again: The game was released in August 2020 and anyone that's interested in it, has long since played the game. No one's gonna go "Oooh, look at this spicy golf game that evaded my radar for over a year. Time to whack some balls."
It's not that these games are bad games. In fact, I've heard that PGA 2k21 is actually pretty solid, and, at the time, MK10 was fun enough. It's just that anyone who cares, is already done with them: The games are simply too old.
Anyway, if you're somehow interested in this weak-ass offering, then you can downgrade your gaming library for free on October 5, which is when the PS Plus games will be released.
Sony better be working on some kind of PS Plus upgrade, like we rumored, because this can't go on. People are paying a pretty penny every month, and we're used to much, much better from Sony. Also, if you give gamers a choice between spending $60 a year on PS Plus or $60 a year on Game Pass (with our trick), Sony is not gonna win this battle if they don't step their game up month after month.
